ROOM 112 UDK MEDIENHAUS GRUNEWALDSTR. 2-5 10823 BERLIN

Observing technological and cultural transformations in the field of
digital photography, the Digital Media Design Class set out to "rethink photography". The ubiquity of devices capable of taking photos has exploded. Online sharing and access of images has fundamentally transformed the way we consume photographs. Metadata associated with pictures have made them ever more accessible and also meaningful when set among the chaos of millions and millions of pictures. Lastly, the technological advances in how computers look at pictures promise yet another paradigm shift in meaning-making to the ever expanding back-catalog of photographs in the collective consciousness of humanity.

The projects developed under this theme share a vision to examine where the traditional art of photography may be heading in the future.
